Short Term Accommodation (STA) personalised for NDIS Participants.

Choose Your Own Adventure gives NDIS participants the choice in who supports them and where they go when accessing Short Term Accommodation (STA) or Respite Care.

Choose Your Own Adventure… Yep, like the books

If you are from the generation that remembers the “Choose Your Own Adventure” books, you might remember that feeling of agency, freedom and adventure that came with the end of each chapter and the excitement of choosing where you will go next.

We believe this feeling of liberation and choice should be an option in everyone’s life. But living with a disability presents unique challenges and sadly, fewer options. Therefore we began to see burnout happening for caregivers. This just wasn’t right and someone had to do something and that’s how “Choose Your Own Adventure” started.

How you experience short term accommodation (STA)
matters to us!

Above all we believe everyone should have the opportunity to take meaningful, restorative Short Term Accommodation (STA) including Respite trips.

Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a nature lover, or simply seeking to unwind and escape, we cater to diverse preferences. Perhaps you’re looking to build your capacity in an area, passionate about a cause, inclined towards volunteering, or eager to delve deeper into your interests. At our core, we listen to what matters to you and collaborate closely. Consequently, we firmly believe that the freedom to choose your companions and destination can truly make ALL the difference.

We also pay special attention to what “respite” means for the family/carer at home. At every stage, we pay special attention to acknowledging and supporting the concerns of both NDIS Participants and their carers. This comprehensive approach ensures that everyone gains maximum benefits from the experience, extending from before the trip, throughout its duration, and well into the period after returning home.

True respite should allow everyone to take a breath and rejuvenate. That’s why we aim to reinforce relationships, 1 trip at a time.

My story

In my role as a Support Coordinator, I’ve witnessed the struggles of numerous dedicated family members and unpaid carers who find themselves at burnout. Many have been supporting their loved ones for so long that imagining life any other way seems impossible. They’re genuinely exhausted and in dire need of a break.
However, the traditional model of STA or respite where their loved one goes off with a stranger is unacceptable to them and consequently, they endure, despite feeling deeply depleted.
I knew they needed a better option, so I created it.
