How We Work
our process with
support workers
A normal Short Term Accommodation (STA) and Respite trip includes the provision of direct support by a paid support worker. Rather than introducing a new, unknown support worker, we seek to work with existing paid support workers who are known and trusted by the participant and their family/ carers.
To ensure the success of this arrangement we engage the services of support workers as “independent contractor” only for the duration of Short Term Accommodation (STA) or Respite. After the trip, the support worker invoices us for the support they provided during the STA or Respite period. This is where the contractual agreement ends. Consequently, the support worker is free to carry on with supporting the participant just as they did prior to the STA or Respite.
SCOPE OF PARTICIPANTS WE SUPPORT:
At this time, CYOA is equipped to support NDIS participants who:

working with NDIS Participants
We work with NDIS Participants who have NDIS Plan with a Core budget which is self or plan managed.
Our first step is to explore each Participant’s desires for their STA or Respite experience. Then we inquire about the suitability and preferences regarding their chosen direct support worker. We also discuss the needs of the informal supporters and ensure we communicate and work in a way that is supportive to all.
If the Participant and/or nominee is happy to move forward, we obtain consent to collaborate with your Support Coordinator or broader Allied Health team. This collaboration ensures the appropriateness of support, ensuring continuity of care is maintained, and overall value from this trip is maximised.
This includes listening to the Participant in these areas:

Non-compete policy:
At Choose Your Own Adventure, we identified a need in providing Short Term Accommodation, including Respite exclusively. As a result, you can rest assured that there will be no competition for existing relationships, as ongoing services are outside of our scope of service. Our focus is on engaging with participants and their current informal and formal supports and delivering an excellent yet limited service where everyone feels the win:win. The only enduring change we seek is the impactful outcome of a purposeful STA or Respite experience.
